When planning your trip to Vermont the one town that will pop up in your search repeatedly is Woodstock. This quiet little town has it all, covered bridges, a quaint little village, great coffee shops, and stunning views.
Most notably in Autumn, Woodstock lights up with color and the crisp air makes you want to drink all the hot apple cider, and pick up all the pumpkins.
Upon arriving I checked into The Shire. A darling hotel just a two min walk from everything the village has to offer. I had a lovely corner room with a view of the Ottauquechee River and a fireplace to warm up after long walks.
After checking out my room I walked down to the coffee shop. The sweet aromas of pastries and lattes filled the air and I grabbed a cup to go. Taking my time I strolled through the village area admiring all the charming homes, lined with white picket fences. The colorful fall leaves were brilliantly framing each home.
For dinner I found myself at the new place in town: Magnalista. This place is incredible and highly impressive with the chef only being 21. Each dish was prepared perfectly and a perfect harmonious blend of flavors I would’ve never thought to put together. It was so good I went back the second night.
The next day I hopped in my car to explore. Every corner was like a post card. Old rustic barns, large working farms, mountains illuminated by fall foliage. Among my favorite stops were Simon Pearce, Farmhouse Pottery, and The Woodstock Farmers Market.
Woodstock definitely lives up to its reputation for being one of the prettiest towns in Vermont! The weekend went by way to fast and I’m excited to visit again soon.
