A couple weekends ago I was able to spend time at the Black Point Inn in Scarborough, Maine. This quiet little seaside town is exactly what the doctor ordered for rest and relaxation.
Driving in you get a beautiful view of the marshes throughout the region, all lit up with that pre-fall amber glow. Once you reach the end of the peninsula you see Black Point Inn sitting on a sprawling property with green grass and a spectacular view of the bay. When pulling into the driveway you’ll notice another stunning view of the ocean. This property is surrounded by gorgeous water views. Perfect for the sunrise and the sunset.
It was so nice to wake up to the sunrise and literally just walk out the front door rather than drive to some remote location. To my surprise, there was actually a white sandy beach. If you aren’t from New England sandy beaches are a rare commodity. Up around this way, our coastline is rugged and rocky. But the beach made for some great drone footage (check video below)!
Just beyond the beach is a coastal walk, where you’ll get plenty of dramatic views of that rugged coastline Maine is so well known for. It’s about a two mile trail trek, so make sure you pack your sneakers!
Besides the coastal walk, the Black Point Inn also provides beach cruisers for their guests to borrow. LOVE! Who doesn’t want to ride a bike on vacation! Especially with never-ending views?
The interior of the inn is reminiscent of the long forgotten glamorous historical family resorts. The type of place you took your entire family for a week and just relished in the luxury of vacation. Rich wooden beams span the ceiling of the great room, and cozy nooks beckon you to start a new novel. The fireplace is a perfect area for the gentleman to gather with their bourbons, while the wives enjoy wine on the patio.
There are two restaurants on the property, The Point is their fine dining restaurant with gorgeous views of the Atlantic. Perfect for a romantic date night. The Chart Room overlooks the bay with a more casual ambiance, but the food is just as delicious! Before dining, I highly recommend enjoying a cocktail, or two, in the adirondack chairs that overlook the bay for the sunset. This was the highlight of my trip and the perfect way to shut down summer!
The Black Point Inn is seasonal so make sure you plan ahead of time, so you don’t miss out on this brilliant property. Black Point Inn is an experience that will transcend you to the vacation you’ve always dreamed of having.
