This year I decided to stray from my usual plants and design a cottage garden. I say “design” loosely…. What a cottage garden really allows you to do is mix a bunch of stunning flowers together without too much rhyme or reason.
And since we are in the middle of a pandemic why the hell not go crazy with a garden?
There are some things I paid attention to when it comes to cottage garden ideas. Obviously you always need to keep in mind whether your plants are full sun or partial shade…I also created a spread sheet where I could keep information such as: when to plant, the height of the plant, and how much space they needed in the garden.
While the typical cottage garden may look beautifully disheveled and carefree….they are in fact quite a bit of work. I would say on average I spend an hour a day in the garden, most days more. But gardening calms me. It puts my anxiety at easy, and like photography, it is very therapeutic to me!
