Grand Teton National Park, full of pristine lakes, numerous hiking trails, an abundance of wildlife, and a magnificent mountain range towering over the ever popular Jackson Hole Valley.
Although our trip to the Grand Tetons was short, we made sure to hit as many spots as we could. These were my favorite:
Moose Wilson Road ~
This 7 mile scenic stretch is full of lush forests as it follows the Snake River. It’s your best chance of spotting MOOSE!!! I’ll never forget driving around a bend and spotting my first wild moose! I’m pretty sure I was out of the car while Matt was still driving.
Jenny Lake ~
This hike was filled with spectacular views, a waterfall, and a chance to run into bears. We missed one by minutes on the trail, and we missed a black bear and cub running through the trail head that morning. This hike is underconstruction until 2018.
Oxbow Bend ~
also known for amazing wildlife sightings – are you seeing a theme yet? We hit Oxbow Bend as the sun was coming up and the shrouded the majestic Grand Tetons in hues of pinks with subtle oranges. We saw a bald eagle soar through the sky as we enjoyed our coffees overlooking the river.
The Moulton Barn ~
Set off of Mormon Row, this homestead was built by Thomas Moulton and his sons between 1912-1945. Its the most photographed barn in America, and with good reason. Right behind it is one of the best views of the Grand Tetons.
If you are planning a trip to Yellowstone I strongly suggest you add the The Grand Teton National Park to your itinerary, ditch the crowds and enjoy nature at its finest in solitude.
XO, Shannon
