How to Build Your Brand
Lets start with your Instagram Bio –
To build your personal brand on Instagram your bio is essentially your Instagram business card – you need to clearly state who you are, who you are trying to serve and how you are trying to serve them.
I Help {target audience} with {problem}.
Make sure you include a CTA – call to action -> What do you want them to do?
Add your website – whether it’s your custom domain or a link tree.
Many people don’t realize this, but your name field is actually searchable – so make sure to include some key words involving what you do – Take a look at this video to see my IG Bio.
It takes people only 2/10ths of a second to decide if they want to follow you – and we want to know what you will give us, what value are you providing? So make sure you tighten up your IG Bio.
Figure out your goals.
What story are you telling? What is your mission? Are you trying to get email addresses, sales, brand awareness? Whatever it is you need to have it figured out before you make content. Using IG without clear goals is a waste of time.
Once you have your goals figured out its time to move on with content planning.
I know some people love to wing it – but trust me when I say that as a brand you can’t afford to just wing it on Instagram anymore. You need to develop your content ideas, create the content, and then plan which days you will deliver that content – this not only provides you with IG strategy, but it also saves you time {and stress} in the long run!
While you are making content be sure that it not only aligns with your values – you can see more about that in this video – but that you are creating educational, inspiring, and entertaining content that people will want to share.
After you have your content planned out and start posting it’s time to Engage with your community
Make sure you are responding to your comments and engaging with your audience on their own accounts as well. Get into your DM’s and keep the conversations going – one way to make this easier on you and create a stronger connection is by using audio messages – that way you aren’t typing every response and your customer gets to hear your voice and feel special you took the time to respond to them via voice memo.
Get comfortable being on camera – and show up! Your community wants to buy from you – they want to see your face, so don’t worry about everything being perfect – showing up consistently is better than being perfect! Consumers today buy from people they trust and if you show up and post regularly you are slowly building your like, know and trust factor.
And lastly, but extremely important…. LISTEN to your community.
Start to pay attention to what drives conversations – STOP paying attention to your own vanity metrics! Pay attention to what is moving your customers to invest time and money into your IG account. – you can look at insights like “clicks on website” or see which posts garnished the most sales – what content are you posting that really resonates with them?
