While visiting Martha’s Vineyard for a second time this past this past September I made a list of all the best known restaurants on the island. I marked up the ones I’ve already been to and decided I needed to experience the others. Suffice it to say, I have yet to have a bad meal on the vineyard. Obviously I needed to deliver the best restaurants in Martha’s Vineyard. And I’ll never complain about eating all the food.
My Top 8 Restaurants in Martha’s Vineyard You Have to Try
1. 19 Raw Oyster Bar – With a slogan like “shucking amazing” how can you resist? This hip and trendy newcomer is making a big splash on the island serving up craft beers, delectable cocktails, Local oysters and mouth watering dishes. This place is small so I highly recommend a reservation or going in as soon as it opens. Things to try: the honeysuckle oysters, the tuna poké, and the lobster roll.
2. Bettini – Located in the Harbor View Hotel, soak in some of the best views on the island While trying courses from a refreshed menu created by Chef Patrice {who comes with an extremely impressive resume)! My pick: The grilled lobster served with a side of tomato couscous.
3. Atlantic Fish and Chop House – open for lunch and dinner, this place is always hopping with boaters that pull up to the dock or people wandering in from the streets of Edgartown. It’s modern decor is warm and inviting you try some of the fresh seafood off the menu. My favorite: The lobster arugula salad with a strawberry vinaigrette.
4. Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Co. – You can go back and forth all day long about who has the best clam chowder, but The Martha’s Vineyard chowder company in Oak bluffs serves up one of the best bowls of clam chowder in New England. Perfect on a cool summer night or a crisp fall day.
5. 7a Foods – This little marketplace is serving up sandwiches at lunch with big flavor. While they have a great menu, it’s their tomato/mozzarella/balsamic sandwich served on their homemade fresh focaccia bread is utterly amazing. This is the perfect place to stop and grab a sandwich before camping it out on the beach in Chilmark or West Tisbury.
6. Menemesha Fish Market – During the summer months, hordes of people flood the Menemsha beach to watch the sunset with its spectacular array of colors. Before taking in the views I highly suggest you grab a lobster roll from the Menemsha fish market. This classic old lobster shack is a gem and definitely one of my top five lobster rolls in New England.
7. The Little House Cafe – This adorable cottage serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And since I came on an early ferry it was the perfect opportunity to grab breakfast and plan out my trip. Coffee is on point, and the pancakes with the fresh maple syrup are worth the calories!
8 Atria – an elegantly designed restaurant in Edgartown which offers two styles of dining. Upstairs you have a fine dining Bistro and downstairs, a relaxed brick cellar bar with some incredible burgers. You also have the choice of sitting out on the garden patio. But know that wherever you sit you’ll enjoy a meal to remember.
These are my eight top best restaurants in Martha’s Vineyard. Do you have a favorite restaurant on this charming island? if so let me know in the comments.
