Vermont is full of charming towns, incredible farms, beautiful scenery and endless New England experiences. But one of the prettiest towns, Woodstock, holds countless gems, most notably the Woodstock Inn.

This hotel dates back to 1743 and is the heart of Woodstock. Rightfully so because this Inn is Inn is as beautiful as they come. And during the holidays? It’s magic. The front of the Inn has a wreath in every window glowing in the evenings. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with a lobby decked with garland and trees. Just past the lobby is the main area with a grand stone fireplace flanked by wreaths. Large chairs with plaid patterns invite you to make yourself at home with a good book to read. There is a giant gingerbread house, and it actually has a little fireplace in it!! Why couldn’t I have this when I was a little girl? There are trees, sleds, presents, garland, and lights at every turn and corner. Don’t believe me? Check out the video!

Eats:

Just down the street from the Woodstock Inn is Magnalista. Reservations are imperative for this farm-to-table restaurant, you will not be able to get a seat by walking in. Magnalista is my favorite restaurant in New England. Big words I know, however, this place is serving up the food in all the right ways.

Coffee:

My favorite coffee spot is Mon Vert. Not only is their coffee delicious, they serve up some seriously tasty treats.

What to do:

There are so many things to do in Woodstock, however, these are the places I make sure I stop by during every visit:

Farmhouse Pottery – this family-owned pottery shop its fun because you can see the potters in action. They have a white palette and make the cutest Christmas trees you can collect!

Woodstock Farmers Market – great specialty shop and I could walk around and look at the flowers, trees, pumpkins (depending on season) for hours.  For the holidays they have live greenery and wreaths, filling the air with the fresh smell of pine.  Alongside are the brightest red winterberries to elevate your Christmas cheer.

Simon Pearce – Incredible well known for his delicate hand-blown glass his shop/restaurant in Quechee is quite the sight. Situated in a mill, you can sit and have lunch right over the water. Then peruse the shop for handmade items in the USA, along with meandering downstairs. Here you can watch the artists perfect their craft and blow the glass right in front of you. During the holiday season, you should pick up a glass tree to dress up your mantle.

Drive the Backroads–
You are in Vermont. And Woodstock has some of the best back roads views in New England. So don’t worry about losing cell service or getting lost, just get in the car and soak up all New England is known for.  This time of year especially because you’ll have snow showers and barns decked out with Christmas decor.
