I just spent a long weekend in Martha’s Vineyard. I stayed at the Harbor View Hotel, which has just been renovated and is spectacular! Between the weather, the fabulous restaurants {more on that later}, and no crowds, I am convinced that fall is the best time to visit Martha’s Vineyard.
And with that, here are the 5 best things to do in Martha’s Vineyard in October.
1) Beach It!
There are still so many warm days in September and October! If I wasn’t running around all day taking all the photographs and eating all the food I would be posted on the beach with a book and loving every second of it!
2) Sunset + Sunrise
I love how the sky lights up in the fall! You go from candy cotton pinks and blues, to deep reds and oranges. If you catch a good night, or morning, the sky looks as if its on fire. Pro Tip: you have to stay a while AFTER the sun goes down….
3) Ride a Bike
the best way to explore Edgartown is by riding a bike! This town is full of charm with historic homes, darling shops, and creative cuisine. The town is incredibly bike friendly as well!
4) Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival
speaking of incredible cuisine – Martha’s Vineyard Food and Wine Festival is a four day event where you get to experience all the farming and fishing that has been so richly entwined in Martha’s Vineyard tradition.
5) Grab a New England Clam Chowder
with the crisp fall evenings there is no better way to warm up than by grabbing a bowl of classic New England Chowder! You can find the best at Martha’s Vineyard Chowder Co. in Oak Bluffs. With its unique blend of seasoning and perfect ratio of clams to potatoes this is the perfect way to spend an Autumn evening!
While there are so many things to do on this beautiful island, these are definitely my top 5 best things to do in Martha’s Vineyard. Which of these would be your favorite? Let me know in a comment below!
