2018 was not my year. Nothing drastic happened, no specific catastrophic event threw me in a downward spiral, it was just not my year. So when 2019 rolled around I needed to make some changes. I needed to implement some new practices, {and increase some old ones} in order to make my 2019 personal goals successful. So here is a list of the four things I am concentrating on to help me be successful this year.
4 THINGS I’M DOING TO HELP CRUSH MY PERSONAL GOALS THIS YEAR:
Motivational Books
I don’t watch t.v. as often as I used to. A few years ago I cut way back because it wasn’t productive, AND I had discovered Audible. With Audible I can listen to books while doing my day to day activities, which makes me feel incredibly productive. In fact, I feel guilty now sitting down to read a hardcover book, because I’m not accomplishing anything at the same time.
Although I had my new love of Audible, I had realized that maybeeeeee listening to thrillers nonstop was probably not helping me grow, it was just entertainment. Which leads me to motivational books. For 2019 I created a list of motivational books, and books for the better good, that I want to listen to this year, {I crossed off the ones Ive already listened to}:
Change Your Brain Change your Life
Have any motivational/self-growth books that you love? Give me all the recommendations – I fly through Audible books! And Tell me what your personal goals for 2019 are!
Podcasts
Podcasts are on the same page as the Audible books. I tend to gravitate towards strong female led podcasts to informational podcasts. One thing I HATE about podcasts is when they chit chat. It’s not valuable information so I will stop listening as soon as that picks up. Here are the few I’m loving currently:
RISE by Rachel Hollis
Awesome with Alison
The GOOP Podcast
The Chalene Show
Ted Radio Hour {Always a favorite}
Any recommendations on INCREDIBLY INSPIRING, and no chit chat, podcasts? Tell me all of them – I want to know!
Planner{S}
I LIVE by planners. I am compelled to write lists and get immense satisfaction when I check off every box. BUT this year I took it to a whole new level and I have TWO planners. I strongly believe that by writing down your goals you will achieve them, and by having two planners I am just manifesting the hell out those goals.
I came across the content planner {a planner built specifically for Influencers} and I loved how this planner is laid out to create and schedule blog posts. Something I definitely need to be better at. Once I have my monthly content put together I move over to my main planner and add in what days I am posting.
For the past few years I have been using Day Designer. While I loved this planner it really didn’t work well with the size for traveling. So I decided to try something new. I came across the Ink + Volt Planner and I LOVE it! Before each week you can list off specific goals you want to accomplish, and I use this to break my larger goals down into small steps. It has been a game changer! And it is small enough to take with me on my travels, while still having a hard cover to be durable. Perfect!
Gratitude
Did you know that by practicing daily gratitude is one of the only ways scientifically proven to be grateful?
Something SO EASY, yet so many don’t practice. At the beginning of the year I sat down with Matt and decided I wanted to say 3 things at the end of each day that we were grateful for. It could be small or large as long as we took the time each evening to list it out. Even though Matt is out of town often we still list off what we are grateful for on the phone. It hasn’t been a month and I already feel lighter and happier just by listening to my husband and what he appreciates!
