Vienna – a cosmopolis that shows the beautiful juxtaposition of old and new. This city is brimming with an air of excitement while being surrounded with stunning historical architecture. Everything in Vienna is so full of artistic vision…including its food.
When I was planning my 4 day trip to Vienna I stayed in two different gorgeous hotels on opposite sides of the city. I was within walking distance to everything (best way to walk off my food calories!), and the transportation system in Vienna is incredible – especially if you get the Vienna City Card.
Vienna Travel Guide: Where to Stay + Eat
The first hotel I stayed at was Das Triest. They have the most magnificent courtyard. During seasonal months this courtyard is open and locals flock to dine under the stars amongst all of the flowers in this perfect quiet corner of Vienna. It is also a fantastic place for breakfast and a cup of coffee to start your morning to explore!
The second hotel I was at, The Palace Hansen Kempinski, not only had a champagne lounge to start your evening, 26˚ East, but then you can walk over to Edvard, a Michelin Star restaurant, which was the BEST meal I had in Vienna. One of my top ten meals in the world if I am being honest. If you are a serious foodie, and I hope you are, splurge on the tasting + pairing menu. The best part? It’s a surprise menu! You don’t know what dish, or wine, you are getting until it gets to the table. Every course I had was mouth watering. I sat at that restaurant for 3 1/2 hours watching people stroll happily by while I lived my best cuisine life.

Vienna Travel Guide: Other Eateries
Here are some other savory options for your Viennese dining experience:
Motto Am Fluss – Located directly on the Danube this elegant atmosphere offers not only a restaurant but a cafe as well! A diverse menu delivers modern cuisine with international flare, and their cocktails offer unique + fresh flavors.
Meissl and Schadn -Serving up Vienna’s finest schnitzel! An elegant Austrian cafe with an open show kitchen that offers traditional Viennese dishes worth experiencing. Do yourself a favor and order the Wiener Wäschermädeln from the dessert menu. You’ll thank me later.
Cafe Mozart – A staple in Vienna since 1794! This jaw dropping cafe is located right behind the Vienna Opera House and is the perfect stop for lunch and an afternoon coffee! Make sure to save room for the Sacher Cake, a well known Viennese treat.
Ofenloch – Another traditional Viennese option, this building has been in Vienna’s city center since 1704. Not only will you enjoy your meal, but you will marvel at the beauty of the arches and panels that give this place so much character.
Living Stone – Big fan of steak? Well head on over to this enticing steak house that has the highest quality of meat! The ambiance is also incredible with rich mahogany tones along with Tiffany’s lamps. I went with the tender filet and a caesar salad.
