This fall I was able to make my way back to The Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid. As a child I would vacation in the Adirondack mountains with my family, so whenever I find myself there I am full of warm memories. This was my second stay at The Whiteface Lodge, and honestly it is one of my Top 5 favorite hotels in the U.S.

The grand splendour of the rustic timber design alone makes this place magical, however the amenities offered and the sense of relaxation put this luxury resort at the top of my list.

The rooms are large and include kitchenettes, living rooms, an outdoor porch, and a spacious bathroom. Both times I have stayed at this hotel I even had a powder room! This hotel has thought of every modern day amenity you might need while holding on the glamorous gilded age style.

There are also two restaurants on location: Kanu offers a more upscale fine dining experience with soaring ceilings, stone fireplaces, and views of the mountains, while Peak 47 gives you a more casual experience with a cozy pub style with leather couches placed in front of roaring fires, and large copper bar to eat a tasty meal while enjoying one of their signature cocktails.

For those of you that don’t know, the Adirondack mountain region in Upstate NY has some of the most beautiful foliage in America. Yes, it can even give Vermont fall foliage a run for its money.

If you are an avid outdoor enthusiast there is plenty to do in the Adirondacks year round. There are plenty of trails teeming with wildlife, if venture far enough north you could see moose! There are lakes and streams great for fly fishing. And then there is Whiteface Mountain, where skiers flock to try their skills on this usually icy mountain. Lake Placid actually hosted 2 winter Olympic games!

However The Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid has everything you could need if you don’t enjoy the outdoors. There is a remarkable spa to relax the day away. An outdoor heated pool to enjoy the view. The lodge even has a pool room, a bowling alley, movie theater, gym, and my favorite, an ice cream parlor.

This place is truly unique in which all your worries wash away as soon as you hand your keys to the valet. To add to the ambiance the lodge is decorated in handcrafted Adirondack furnishings throughout the interior. With so many ways to escape how can you not plan a trip to Whiteface Lodge?
