Most people don’t realize this…but Small Businesses hold the upper hand on social media. And you can too! Which is why I’m sharing social media tips for small businesses today.
Social Media Tips for Small Businesses
Here are a handful of reasons why you should have your small business on social media and what you should be focused on!
Humanize Your Brand
In order to sell a product of service you first need to build trust, and the easiest way to do this is by humanizing our brand. People like people! Small businesses hold the upper hand in this situation because the owners or founders are able to be more involved in their social media accounts. It’s also easier for a small business to feature customers and testimonials on social media to further build the trust.
Think about it…how many big brand names have you seen the CEO or founder and felt like you had a connection?
Engagement –
Social media effectiveness boils down to engagement and ROX {Customer Experience}. The truth is – Small Businesses on social media are able to deliver a higher ROX than the big box names who are scrambling to rearrange their marketing strategies.
ROX is the driving force behind sales these days (and yet not enough companies are paying attention to this). The best way a small business can increase their ROX is responding to all of their comments and their DM’s.
This shows the customer you care about them, their questions, and concerns. It also creates a relationship —> which in turn creates fanatic brand loyalty!
Brand Loyalty
By creating conversations with your customers, telling your brand story, showing your behind the scenes, and speaking up about what you believe in {or your values}, your customers get to see who they are buying from.
They will feel an immediate connection to brands that hold similar values and beliefs and will become repeat business.
Another phenomena of brand loyalty – they will sing your praises to all of their friends.
Higher ROI on Ads
Facebook Ads has been slaying the marketing game lately. They are now incorporating Instagram, and even Pinterest has jumped on this band wagon.
Why does this matter to small businesses? It is way cheaper, yet more effective than using google ad words.
Social Media ads are so segmented you can break your audience down by age, interests, location….and that’s just the beginning. You can also see how each ad is performing immediately – offering you the opportunity to shut it down or increase your budget!
Community Driven
Small businesses tend to care deeply for the people and area they live in. This kind of “community” also drives the business to create more community drive content, and asking their customers to get involved – whether it means using particular hashtags or posting photos.
Fostering a community online is also a great way to welcome reviews, questions, comments and concerns from your customers.
But there is still a problem…
Over 50% of businesses report that they don’t know how to use Instagram in a strategic way to support their business goals that contribute to a better bottom-line.
It’s time to stop consuming social media content and start creating a social media strategy that works for your business!
