The Grand Canyon – 277 miles long and 18 miles wide, carved by the Colorado River for 6 million years. It’s impressive, it’s certainly grand, and it makes you appreciate how beautiful this country is.
We did a day trip from Sedona (a little over an hours drive) and took the pups with us! I wasn’t sure what to expect with the colder months, but we were completely blown away by everything we saw.
The colors were still brilliant, and seeing some of the ridges lined with snow made it even prettier. There crowds were non existent, which we love. And we saw a ton of wildlife: eagles, elk, and mule dear.
We enjoyed the many stops with hot chocolate in hand, and the dogs were just as excited to see the next spot as they were the last. I swear I could take them to 7-11 and they would hop out thinking it was the best place on earth….
As far as dogs in the park ~ you can’t take them on the trails. However, they do have a kennel in the park, so you can board your dogs while you enjoy the multiple trails.
I recommend hanging out for sunset and watch the canyon catch fire!
XO, Shannon
